Sir Kenneth Branagh's black and white film Belfast, which is based on his own childhood, is leading the nominations for the Golden Globes alongside Jane Campion's Western The Power Of The Dog.

Both films have received seven nods each at the awards, which has faced controversy over the lack of diversity in its voter and which, as things stand, will not be televised next year after the network NBC dropped it as a result.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association - which vote on the awards - came under fire when it was revealed that none of the 87 members were black. This resulted in changes to the rules but it remains to be seen as to whether the organisation is perceived to have done enough by the industry to avoid boycotts.
