Out Of The Dark

This multi-layered film, with a lot more going on than is apparent at first glance, is well suited to home viewing. Alongside it is a Making-Of documentary that's as beautifully produced as the film itself and features interviews with senior crew members and the two leads. Although it doesn't go into great depth, it looks beyond the simple mechanics of making the film to explore its themes and setting, helping viewers unfamiliar with Colombian history to connect more deeply with the story. Unusually, it manages to do all this without to many spoilers, so won't ruin the film if you decide to watch it first, though it's probably wisest not to.

The transfer here is very good, with the lush cinematography retaining its depth, so as long as you have a half-decent screen that can cope with the dark scenes, you can enjoy a high quality viewing experience.
