The soundtrack has been digitally remastered and the picture is fine despite the film's age.

The DVD also includes a ‘Making Of’ short that is well worth watching. It gives a wonderful insight into how Allio worked with these amateur actors, the trouble they went to find the right location, because the real village had changed beyond all recognition, and the fact that most of the costumes were provided by the cast, to give the strong period feel.
