The overwhelming impression of this Region 0 DVD from Tartan is solid but unspectacular.

Image and sound are clear, colours bright and solid and subtitles legible. In other words, all that is needed from a film whose concentration on character and story, rather than spectacle, means it inherently translates well to small screen viewing.

Extras include a review from Tom Dawson; filmographies of writer-director Catherine Breillat, actresses Arsinee Khanjian, Roxane Mesquida and Anais Reboux; a small gallery of promotional materials, and the theatrical trailer for the film. All are competently done, if slight and unexceptional.

There is also a world cinema trailer reel, with trailers for an assortment of Tartan DVD releases - Lovers Of The Arctic Circle, The Red Squirrel, Turkish Delight, Tesis, Dead Or Alive and Freezer - without obvious connection to A Ma Soeur.
