Memories Of Hero is an in-depth feature about the experience of filmmaking, with contributions from Jaco van Dormael, Michel Bouquet, Thomas Godot, Sandrine Blancke and François Schuiten. There's a strong focus on method and the technical aspects of production, which will fascinate film buffs and alienate the average viewer. Those wishing to get involved in any aspect of the industry will find lots of interesting advice, but there's not much else here to keep the viewer's attention, and the whole thing is overlong to the point where praise for the film becomes irritatingly repetitive.

Francois Schuiten - Architect Of An Unfinished Dream is a fascinating and beautifully shot interview with the enthusiastically animated designer, who helped van Dormael create aspects to the film, which we never see. Their planned science fiction angle is explained in depth, with illustrations, bringing a whole extra layer of substance to the story. There's so much new material here that it will fascinate anyone who enjoyed the film.

One would think that one of the great things possible within the DVD format would be better subtitle options, so it's unfortunate that this film offers only one set in English. This tells the story well enough, but it's very plain, and misses a lot of the double entendres around which the film's rich humour is structured.
