Sandra Wollner's Everytime won the top prize in Cannes' Un Certain Regard section, which aims to champion emerging talent.

The Austrian drama about grief after a family holiday is hit by tragedy, continues to make Wollner out as a talent on the rise after The Trouble With Being Born. Jury president actress Leila Bekhti said the film "shook us to our core".

Elephants In The Fog, directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, won the Jury Prize. The Nepalese drama is set at the heart of the country's transgender, non-binary and intersex Kinnar community. Louis Clichy's animation Iron Boy won a Special Jury Prize, while the Best Actor gong went to Bradley Fiomona Dembeasse for Rafiki Fariala's Congo Boy, as a teen dreaming of a career in the music industry in the midst of civil war. The Best Actress award was shared by Marina de Tavira, Daniela Marín Navarro, and Mariangel Villegas, for their trio of performances in Valentina Maurel's Costa Rican family drama Always Your Maternal Animal.

Interestingly, there was no prize for Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, which played to critical acclaim earlier in the week. It sold for $17m to A24.
