Juno triumphs at Independent Spirit Awards

Reitman's film wins three gongs.

Jason Reitman's comedy Juno, has walked away with three awards at the Independent Spirit Awards, including Best Film.

The film about a teenager dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, also won the Best Female Lead award for star Ellen Page and Best First Screenplay for Diablo Cody.

Best Director went to Julian Schnabel for The Diving Bell and The Butterfly, while Philip Seymour Hoffman picked up the Best Male Lead award for The Savages.

Best foreign film - not to be confused with the Oscar's best film in a foreign language - went to Ireland's Once.
