Aside from the film’s theatrical trailer, this DVD only comes with one special feature which is a nine-minute interview with writer/director Azael Jacobs in which he discusses the genesis and creation of the film and the challenges of shooting with his parents. We learn a little about his own childhood and the real lives of his artist parents in their Manhattan studio. This is an insightful piece and doubtless of much interest to those who have enjoyed the film, though it does feel a little short.

One very telling insight, from my perspective, was the director’s admission that the character he was least familiar with (at least when the project began) was the eponymous Momma’s Man, Mikey. I feel that this goes a long way to explaining the film’s fundamental Achilles' heel, which is that Mikey is such a difficult central character to empathise with.
